The student versions are cheap compared to the normal versions but still not inexpensive.

Creative Suite 2 Premium Student Edition goes for $399 vs $1199 for the normal version.

The Student Edition of Photoshop is $299 so it is not really worth it because you can get the CS2 bundle for just $100 more which includes Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, GoLive CS2, Acrobat 8 Professional, Version Cue CS2, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Stock Photos, and Dreamweaver 8.

If you buy the CS2 bundle close to CS3 launch then you should be able to qualify for a free upgrade to CS3.
