| Depending on what mood takes me, I have quite a few favourites:
Full Metal Alchemist - I have watched this through, twice. And it never fails to move me. Its not just the usual action movie, though there aren't actually many fight scenes in it. The story is more about the relationship between 2 brothers, and their fight to regain normality in their lives.
Jungle Wa Itsumo, Hale Nochi Guu - This series is hilarious. I'm surprised it doesn't have a bigger following. I don't think I have ever laughed so much at something that seems so childish. If you like slightly mental anime series, such as Excel saga, Oruchuban Ebichu, you'll love this!
XXXholic - As much as it sounds like a dodgy porn movie, this is a magical/relationship based anime. I was hooked and couldn't wait for each new episode. I think it was the relationship between the main characters that made me love this so much.
Azumanga Daioh - So good, I demanded the manga for Christmas! Not the usual kind of highschool drama....
Other anime worthy of a mention are Ah! My Goddess, Narutaru and Cowboy Bebop. I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them right now >.<
