And actually, I can't go battle with him. As per term of "Breakdancing" his style is different than mine so I can't go head to head on him. And I cannot do his **** and I know he can't do mine as well.
Breakdancing has a lot of styles on it. We got popping, locking, power and so forth. And not one in books of bboying history was there a mixed battle.
And one thing to note, the term "breakdancer" is obsolete. We are not referred with that kind of term anymore. When you say breakdancer it's more pointed out to a person who dances in the break part of the music. Instead of break dancer, we are refered to as "bboy/bgirl".
His dancing style, if to be categorized as breakdancing then he would fall under popping. I fall under powermoves and footworks. So it's not likely that he'll beat me and I'll beat him.
People these days would call themselves hip-hop though they never really know what it means to be hip-hop. Lots of people have this hip-hop music, but do they know what hip-hop music really is? well, I'll say it's hip but not hip-hop.
Some people would even refer to wearing trendy outfits will give them the hip-hop look. Again, they're hip but not hip-hop.
Hip-hop has four major elements. Namely "bboying", "emceeing", "deejaying", and "graffiti". So unless your thing falls on these 4 elements, then you can call yourself a hip-hop artist.
@DropDeadEd:
If you are pretty convinced that this guy Takahiro still dont have a chance of losing, I'd say go look for online streaming video sites(youtube, google, metacafe, etc.) and see for yourself that in this big world, there are far better and more respected talents. I'd hate to spill the beans for you but most of the greatest dancers around the world(including other guys that can beat Takahiro) are not well recognized and always left in the dark.
And yeah to add an information, I wouldn't mind losing to someone else. In fact, we, bboys, lose for a reason. And you won't understand that reason unless you are a true bboy. I am not ashamed to admit that I once lose to a bgirl. Yeah she's way better than me and I respect her so much in life of breakdancing. |
Aside from that meaningless rhetoric, we get: "Pfft, like even if I lost there's someone that can beat him".
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt of knowing dance styles better than I do (last time I even checked anything remotely related to the issue was back in the 99-01 years, then I got bored of it and decided to make the music people break/pop/power move to.
I've been watching this Takahiro guy for awhile now )yes they have his footage from Japan in several places(
Honestly, what you saw isn't his best performance.
This is pretty much going to be a contest of what I say and you say, which is meaningless. The guy is good, you are good. Talk is cheap after all.
